Is Midrib free?

Yes. Free covers projects, graphs, My Paper and the RRL Editor. Pro adds Midrib's own model for writing help; its price will be announced when billing opens.

What do I need for writing help on Free?

Your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, added in Settings. The provider bills you for what it's used for. With Pro, writing help runs on Gemini 3.5 with no key.

What happens to my API key?

It's sent to Midrib once when you save it, and never shown again: Settings shows only its last four characters. You can replace or remove it any time.

Does Midrib write my paper?

No. It finds and organizes the research, points out claims without a source, and checks your citations. The writing is yours.

What do the colors in the graph mean?

Green is related, yellow is related but a bit off-topic, amber is too far, blue is related but not yet placed, gray is unrelated, and dark gray is a paper you set aside. Brighter means a stronger link. Each color also comes with its label, so you never have to rely on color alone.

What can I upload?

Your draft as a PDF or Word (.docx) file up to 20 MB, papers as PDFs, and your reference library as a .bib, .ris or Zotero/Mendeley .json export up to 10 MB.

What's an RRL?

A review of related literature: the part of a paper that sums up what's known and where your work fits. Read the guide.

How do I delete my account?

In Settings, under Delete account. You'll confirm with your password, and everything in your account is deleted.
